TV series

I started watching TV series with Once Upon a Time, I watched the first four seasons, but now I’m not watching it anymore. It’s about the real world and the Disneyworld, both in the same place. There are magic things in the real world; you can see Snow White, Cinderella, Tinkerbell and other characters. After that I watched 4 seasons of The Walking Dead, and now I’m waiting that Netflix uploads the last one.

In the last time I’ve been watching Grey’s Anatomy, I really like it so much because it mixes the drama and the adrenalin of being a doctor, but it also uses a little of humor, so you can have a very good experience. You feel a lot of things with the characters, like pain, happiness and anger.

But my favorite TV serie is How I Met Your Mother, I really like it because it make laugh a lot. When I’m sad or bored I watch an episode, it can change my mood. I saw it once, but I didn’t watch the last episode because I don’t want it to end, so now I’m seeing it again from the first season.

Everybody has seen in the Medias what is happening in the world right now. All the eyes are in Europe and the Islamic State because last Friday there was a terrorist attack by the EI against France. ¿But how this events could affect our country?

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for refugees (UNCHR), Chile is has 2,000 refugees and asylum seekers, and since 1999 when a resettlement program began in our country; hundreds of refugees of Afghan origin, Palestinian, Yugoslavia and Colombia have been resettled.

The refugees could cause an impact in our society, first, because we are not used to see people of other cultures and specifically Arab people who could be discriminated. Second, they will need jobs and if it’s hard to get one for a Chilean person, it could be more difficult for a foreign.

The truth is there no information yet about new refugees because it’s too early, but Chile is open to receive foreigners. In an interview made to the government about the refugees in 2003, they said that Chile accepted to receive 29 Palestinian families, providing them facilities for social inclusion, to have a home and public education. So, it is true that there is an uncertain outlook about refugees, but Chile has the capability to bring them to the country

Ryszard Kapuściński

Ryszard Kapuściński was born in 1932 and died in 2007, he was a journalist, writer and historian from Bielorrusia. He was witnessed of many conflicts in the world, being in 27 revolutions, 12 battle fronts and also he was sentenced to be shot four times.  “The Emperor: Downfall of an autocrat”, “Imperium” and “The Shadow of the sun” are just a few books that he wrote in his life.

I like him because he was a war correspondent and I have always been attracted to that theme; he was in the center of the main conflicts in the world, being capable to give the information to the world. I mean, he was a contribution to society, risking his own life for his work.

For example, what is happening now in Middle East is very important, and as a future journalist I want to be there, no matter how dangerous it could be. That’s why Kapuściński is my reference, because of his work and bravery. I hope to be a good journalist in the future, to be a contribution to society.

Pets from childhood

My first pet was a dog called Kaiser. He was a Labrador, a really big one. I was two years old when my mom’s best friend gave me the dog. He was amazing, I barely remember him, but my mom always says that every time that she was angry with me, Kaiser growled at her. Then we had to move to another house, smaller than the previous one, so we had to give him away to another family.

Years later, when I was 8 years old, I had another dog, his name was Firulays. He was a black “Quiltro” - word that describes a street dog in Chile. In that time I used to live with my grandparents and my mom, and I remember that my grandma was always angry with him, because he never stayed in the house. Firulays escaped through the window, he was all day long in the street, and at night he came back home, to eat and sleep.

Then my mom gave me a little dog, Poncho, when we move to the house we live now. He is a white Maltés, he lived with me four years, but now he is with my grandparents because they have a house with a big backyard, and I lived in anapartment, so he obviously is happier where he is now. Anyway, I go there once a week, so I spend all the time I can with Poncho.

Back in time

I really love this photo because it makes me go back in time, when I was 7 years old. I’m not sure about who took it, but I think it was my teacher. We were on a trip to Olmué with my classmates for two days. In the image I was with my two friends in that moment of my life, I still remember their names: Lucía and Emilia.
I was in three schools, and this photo was taken when I was in the first one. That place really helped me to be the person who I am now. It’s a different education, more pluralistic. I know I was 7 years old, but the memories of that perfect time are in my mind, it’s like everything happened yesterday.

I think this photo freezes the time, I was just a girl. I didn’t know anything about the world, I lived without worries, and it’s nice to remember those moments sometimes.
